Kalmar adds VP global terminal operators

Port crane, reachstacker and terminal equipment manufacturer Kalmar has appointed Guenter Schmidmeir as senior vice president, global terminal operators. He also joins the company’s leadership team, reporting to Kalmar president Antti Kaunonen.

Schmidmeir joins Kalmar from US based sister company Navis, where he has been general manager of the European, Middle East and African region since 2008. He has 20 years of experience in the port and terminals industry, 17 years of that with Navis, where he has worked in number of positions stationed in London, Antwerp, Dubai, Hamburg and Oakland, California. Kalmar owner Cargotec acquired Navis in 2011.

In his new role at Kalmar he will lead strategic account management to strengthen and deepen relationships with the global terminal operators and large regional operators, to offer service, software and equipment ranges from Kalmar, Navis, Bromma and XVELA brands to the customers.
