New MHI chief operating officer
US material handling and logistics association MHI has appointed John Paxton as chief operating officer.
Paxton joins MHI from Demag Cranes and Components, where he has been president for 31 years. He is also recognised for his volunteer leadership at MHI, including tenure as president of the association’s overhead lifting product groups, such as the Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA), Hoist Manufacturers Institute (HMI), and Monorail Manufacturers Association (MMA). Paxton will report to chief executive George Prest, and take over from him as chief executive in December 2020.

Paxton said: “MHI is a dynamic organisation with members that are the leading providers in this industry, a high performing dedicated staff and a strong history. I want to thank the board of governors and George for the confidence they have shown in me as I begin this new role.”
Prest added: “John’s experience as the leader of a major material handling manufacturing enterprise and his volunteer leadership at MHI brings a unique perspective on the needs of both MHI members and end users which will serve him well in his new role.”
