40ft Snorkel boom
Snorkel will show the final production version of its 40ft 400S telescopic boom lift at the ARA’s Rental Show, which opens later today.
The new boom is the final and smallest unit in the four model mid range boom line announced in 2016, that also includes the 46ft 460SJ, 600S and 660SJ. The 400S has a maximum outreach of just over 10 metres, with a platform capacity of 272kg, while maximum capacity is 454kg at an outreach of around 8.5 metres or so. The standard platform is 2.44 metres wide by 910mm deep and has 150 degrees of rotation. 4x4 drive with 50 percent gradeability, an oscillating axle, 317mm ground clearance and 360 degree continuous slew are all standard. Overall width is 2.3 metres, with an overall height of 2.4 metres, the lift weighs 7.5 tonnes and is powered by a Deutz Tier 4 Final diesel.

The Snorkel 400S
Production is now underway in both Henderson, Nevada and Elwood, Kansas, the company will also kick off its 60th anniversary celebrations. Snorkel was set up by Art Moore in 1959, initially with firefighting platforms.
