Maxim acquires Shaughnessy & Ahern
US based rental company Maxim Crane Works is to acquire Boston, Massachusetts based Shaughnessy & Ahern crane, rigging and heavy haulage company, including its S&A Cranes subsidiary.
Shaughnessy & Ahern was established by John Shaughnessy in 1916 as a heavy transport and rigging business, it introduced the first telescopic cranes in the city in 1956 and now runs a fleet ranging in capacity from 12.5 to 450 tonnes, serving the north eastern United States from its Boston base. The business will be integrated into the Maxim Crane operations.
Maxim chief executive Bryan Carlisle said: “the Shaughnessy companies offers one of the most experienced teams of crane professionals in the region. Their state of the art fleet provides customers with a ‘best in class’ brand of products, parts, services and rental equipment. We are confident that the combination of the Shaughnessy Companies and Maxim will bring added value to our combined customer base, employees and the industry.”

Maxim currently runs a fleet of around 2,600 cranes from 56 locations across North America. This is the third acquisition in six months, with the company having acquired Louisiana based B&G Crane in March
