Double first for Liebherr Maritime
Argentinian port terminal Euroamerica has taken delivery of the first Liebherr LHM 420 mobile harbour crane in the country, which was also the first crane to be assembled using the company’s Remote Service app.
Delivered unassembled to the Port in Campana, the outbreak of coronavirus meant that Liebherr’s engineer from Rostock was unable to attend and supervise the assembly in person. Working with Liebherr Argentina - which had never assembled a LHM 420 before - the engineer was required to provide support and assistance remotely.
Using the company’s Remote Service app, he was able to make audio and video calls, use a chat function, screen share, exchange images and documents, as well as use a whiteboard functions to assist with the work. Cameras were also installed on the site as well as daily meetings scheduled to discuss the various stages of assembly until its completion.

Liebherr Argentina engineer Benoit Cibert said: “From my side, I can tell you that this commissioning job has been a great experience and a great challenge for us, and we are pleased to deliver the crane to the customer according to the initial schedule and without any trouble. The Remote Service Tool certainly contributed to this.”
