Fatal loading incident

We have learnt of a fatal platform loading incident last Thursday in Skjåk, Norway - south east of Geiranger and north east of Bergen.

The work platform had been used to carry out work on the spire of Skjåk church which is being renovated, we have no idea what type of platform it was.

The man in his 40s had taken the platform and was loading it onto a semi-trailer when it apparently slipped off the side of the trailer, or ramps, seriously injuring him. It seems that he was loading it alone in icy conditions. Those working inside heard a bang and came out of the church to find him trapped under the overturned machine. The man was extracted and taken to hospital in Trondheim where he died from his injuries on Friday.
An investigation is ongoing.
