Fatal crush incidents in Milan
A man has died following a crushing/entrapment issue on a site in central Milan, Italy.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Friday 28th January, on a residential construction project in the City Lift area on the north west side of central Milan.
The man, Maurizio Geroso, 57, apparently became trapped between the guardrails of the aerial work platform he was using and the lintel of a door he was driving through, on the second floor of an apartment block currently under construction.
He was brought down by colleagues and rushed to hospital, but sadly died from his injuries shortly after arrival.
An investigation was carried out by the state police and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor with the help of the Uoc safety authorities.
Incident number two
Less than a week later, on February 2nd, a 50 year old man died in another crushing incident in nearby Monza.
According to the information we have received he was pruning trees when he became trapped between the guardrail and a tree limb. As a result, he suffered a cardiac arrest and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Information on this incident has been limited, we will update it if and when we learn more.
