50/50 crane

German crane rental company Richard Kölch & Son has taken delivery of its 50th crane - a new 30 tonne Tadano AC 3.055-1 All Terrain - delivered on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

The three axle All Terrain features a 50 metre six section main boom, with optional one metre ‘runner’ or auxiliary boom nose with a capacity of 24 tonnes, taking the maximum tip height to almost 54 metres. The crane can travel with its full six tonnes of counterweight on board within 12 tonne axle loads but can also achieve 10 tonne axle loads with 1.1 tonnes of counterweight, along with 400kg of rigging gear.

The new crane arrives in Furth

Speaking of the company’s latest addition Kurt Kölch said: “With its 50 metre boom and the fact that it can travel with its full counterweight of six tonnes, the AC 3.055-1 is extremely fast and versatile, making it our crane of choice. We will be using it about the same amount for prefab home construction and machinery assembly projects inside factories, jobs that it will be able to mostly handle without the need for expensive and time consuming additional transport or travel permits.

Alexander Kölch added: “The IC 1 Plus crane control system, including the IC 1 Remote controller is simply a cutting edge piece of equipment, so it’s a perfect fit for our state of the art fleet. We also like the fact that the Tadano plant in Lauf is close by. Short distances are always great especially when you have good personal access to the manufacturer.”

Richard Kölch & Son is based in Fürth on the North West side of Nuremburg in Bavaria. The Kölch’s - Richard and Kurt - began trading in 1973, incorporating the current company in 1977. In addition to crane rental, the company also offers telehandlers and spider cranes along with transport and heavy haulage.
