When construction crews in Durham, North Carolina, arrived on a job site yesterday morning they discovered a badly injured man on the site's tower crane.
It seems that he had climbed the crane, a Potain Igo 130 self-erecting crane, sometime over the weekend and then fell, landing on tower rest platform around 20 to 24 metres up. When the emergency rescue team arrived on the scene, they found him unresponsive, but still breathing. He was brought down with the help of two ladder platforms, and then rushed to hospital. His condition is unknown.
This highlights the risks that these lone ‘explorers’ take when they attempt such pranks. If he lives to tell the tale, he will be lucky. Hopefully other ‘adventurers’ will take note.
