UK based Select Plant Hire has taken delivery of two 150 tonne LTR 1150 telescopic crawler cranes, part of an following an order that it placed at this years Vertikal Days.
Launched in November 2023, the LTR 1150 fills the gap between the 100 tonne LTR 1100 and the 220 tonne LTR 1220. Liebherr claims the new crane offers a 50 tonne capacity increase in many parts of the load chart compared to the LTR 1100, while remaining just as easy and economical to transport. The LTR 1150 is also positioned as an ideal assist crane for lattice crawlers up to 1,000 tonnes and capable of picking & carrying loads over 60 tonnes. It is designed for tasks that exceed the LTR 1100’s capabilities but don’t require the larger capacity of the LTR 1220.
The boom and extension configuration are the same as the LTR 1100, with a six section 52 metre main boom, topped by a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold lattice swingaway extension. This can be further extended with two seven metre lattice extensions for a maximum tip height of 88 metres.
The LTR 1150 has an overall weight of 60 tonnes with the counterweight removed and tracks left in place, and an overall transport width of 3.5 metres. If the tracks are removed, the weight is reduced to 38 tonnes, with a transport width of three metres, although this requires the setup jacks to be installed.
Clare Rodgers, Select’s business stream leader said: “Our investment in the LTR 1150s is part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation in lifting solutions. These cranes bring enhanced efficiency and significantly lower emissions, allowing us to offer clients greener alternatives without compromising on performance or flexibility. With each new addition to our fleet, we're not only elevating our lifting capabilities but also helping to drive sustainable practices within the construction industry.”
According to this year’s Top 30 UK & Ireland rental companies survey and report, Select is one of the largest rental companies in the UK. It ranks as the third largest tower crane provider, with the 66 tonne Terex CTL1600-66 - the largest tower crane in the UK - in its fleet. The company is also the second largest crawler crane provider in the country.
