Maxim Crane fined
Maxim Crane Works has been fined $14,000 for the fatal big crawler crane accident at the Kansas City Power & Light's Iatan power station this May.
The Occupational Safety & Health Administration cited the Bridgeville, Pennsylvania based Crane company for two serious violations in the May 23rd collapse of one of its Manitowoc 18000 crawler cranes at the plant north of Kansas City.
Dan Corcoran, speaking for OSHA said that Maxim was cited a) For not following the crane manufacturer's specifications for the equipment and b) For not barricading the area within the radius of the crane’s boom.Each violation carried a fine of $7,000.
Terry Eugene Stimpson, 23, was killed and three others were injured when the boom on the crane collapsed as it was being lowered due to concerns over rising wind levels.
