Manitou to distribute CVS Ferrari
Manitou South Africa has signed an agreement with CVS Ferrari to distribute its reach stackers and container handling equipment in Southern Africa.
The agreement includes the selling, marketing and after-market support of equipment in South Africa, the countries that border South Africa along with Angola and Zambia.
CVS Ferrari had looked at opening a company store of its own, but decided to go with Manitou because of its experience in the South African market and industry.
Matteo Tosi, sales manager for CVS Ferrari, said: “CVS Ferrari had the choice of opening a local daughter company or picking a partner. It was not possible to establish a daughter company because of timing and distance.”
“Choosing a partner is not always easy because often the best are all gone, but with Manitou, it was different. Manitou’s technical knowledge is similar and the finance capability matches with our requirements, so the choice was easy”.
Lindsay Shankland, managing director of Manitou South Africa, added: “Our dedication to servicing the customer once a machine has been purchased was a key factor in CVS Ferrari partnering with us.
According to CVS Manitou has placed an initial order valued at 55 million rand ($7 million) including straddle carriers, reach stackers, container runners, tow tractors and forklifts.
CVS Ferrari has until now been distributed by ETIS Mvelaphanda Engineering which also sells and services industrial lifting gear, spreader beams, portal cranes and trailers.
