JPW exits small crane rental
DeWitt, New York, based JPW Riggers has sold all of its small lifting equipment in order to focus on its growing wind turbine business.
The company has sold two 90-ton cranes, a 50 ton crane, a 35 ton crane and a 15 ton crane along with 12 larger forklifts and other rigging equipment to Salina, New York, based C&S construction.
JPW has been working on wind turbines since 2000, but the business has gathered pace over last three years. JPW currently has large cranes working on wind farms in six states.
JPW will also retain its steel fabrication and erection work, the company employs 130 in total and was founded 30 years ago.
C&S already had a small crane division, C&S Crane and Rigging, with two cranes, largely used for its own work, the addition of those from JPW will boost the amount of outside rental the company does.
The crane and rigging business is part of C&S' construction unit, which provides services including mechanical contracting, large-scale plumbing work, and renovation of facilities like colleges and hospitals.
C&S is based in Salina and employs 400 with offices in Rochester, Buffalo, Binghamton, Detroit, San Diego, Cleveland and Orlando.
