HSS acredited

HSS Hire, one of the UK’s largest general rental companies has been re-awarded with Type B accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.

This means that HSS has its own approved independent team to complete thorough examinations on lifting equipment and aerial work platforms.

HSS says that it is the only hire company to hold the recognised International Standard ISO/IEC 17020:1998 at this level. It essentially certifies HSS self inspections as equal to that of an independent third party inspection in terms of independence and ability.

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole national accreditation body recognised by the UK government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.

In evaluating the team member’s work, UKAS described them as being ‘first class’ and ‘excellent ambassadors’ for the business. HSS says that in light of this new accreditation it will be expanding its inspection team and extending its scope to include its operations in Ireland.

HSS’ national health safety environment and quality manager, David Wilson said: “This is great news for us - not only does it remove the time lag involved in using external inspectors, meaning that kit can get back on hire more quickly, but it also ensures a consistency of inspection and offers an important differential against other hire companies. It’s a real feather in our cap”.
