Six survive boiler scaffold collapse
Six men survived a 50m fall and one died after the boiler scaffold they were erecting at Mississippi Power's Plant Daniels in Escatawpa, Mississippi, collapsed last week.
The contract workers were employees of the New Iberia, Louisiana based industrial service company LandCoast Insulation Inc. and were installing the maintenance scaffold in one of the coal fired boilers.
All of the injured workers were taken by ambulance to Singing River Hospital for treatment. Amazingly four were released from the hospital the same day, with two others, one with a back injury and another with a broken arm and leg are still in hospital.
The dead man was later named as Henry Pena, III, of Chicago, Illinois OSHA is investigating the accident.
