A four axle All Terrain crane ran into a house in Stavager, Norway on Friday after the driver is thought to have suffered a health issue, possibly a blackout.

There were no signs of heavy braking

The house was occupied but not the rooms that were destroyed, although some reports suggest a person did suffer some minor injuries. The operator, 56, was taken to hospital, he had some minor abrasions from the impact, but the concern was more for what had caused him to lose control of the crane.

The crane pushed the wall out and furniture spilled onto the street

The crane, a Terex owned by international rental company Sarens, will remain in position while the structure of the building is secured.

Did you even read the post Ray? This was in Norway, Not the UK. They are two separate places.

Tristam, did you notice that no one from the US has verbally slammed the driver of this machine for this accident? No comments about lack of training in the UK, inexperienced drivers or incompetent operators there? I don’t think this particular crash happened on our soil, nor was an American at the controls. This is just one of many that has occurred over there in the UK, and if you knew the actual statistics based on how many cranes were in each of our countries you would see that we don’t really have more accidents at all. In fact the US is more likely one of the safest in the world compared to all the others. If there’s more rigs and more crews then there will be a proportionately bigger amount of incidents and accidents, it’s just that simple.
