Krøll buys into clean energy partnership

Clean Wind Energy Towers (CWET) of Annapolis, Maryland has announced a partnership with the Danish heavy tower crane specialist Krøll Cranes and its exclusive US distributor, Tower Cranes of America to build its patented downdraft towers.

CWET has patented its Downdraft Tower which uses water spray and hot dry air to generate electricity. The towers which will be between 680 and 900 metres high are said to be capable of generating up to 1,200 Megawatt Hours of electricity. The two companies have acquired a million shares each of CWET common stock, representing an investment of $60,000 between them, as part of their support for the development and construction of the towers, the first of which are likely to be in San Luis, Arizona, where CWET has planning approval for two towers, it has also signed an agreement for two towers in Mexico.

Ronald Pickett, chief executive of CWET, said: “Krøll Cranes is a key component in the development and construction of the towers, which could not be built without the modern crane technology employed by Krøll. Our relationship with the company will enable the construction of larger Downdraft Towers, that operate with virtually no carbon footprint, fuel consumption, or residual waste, to generate electricity and clean water economically."

Niels Peter Sørensen, sales manager of Krøll Cranes, said: “We can confirm the constructability of the towers using novel combinations of known and proven methods. Kroll is an enthusiastic supporter of the Clean Wind Energy project and are happy to become a stockholder in the company.”

Krøll Cranes is a wholly owned subsidiary of Muhibbah Engineering group, which is publicly traded in the Singapore stock exchange. It currently manufactures the world’s largest tower crane, the 25,000 tonne/metre K-25000 which has a maximum capacity of 400 tonnes, with a 200 tonne rating at its maximum radius of 100 metres.
