Fatal telehandler accident
Two people have died and one has been left seriously injured after a work platform on a telehandler became detached whilst in operation.
The incident took place at a hotel in Zaltbommel, Central Holland, where a vacant hotel is being converted into a new Van der Valk hotel. Omroep Gelderland, a local media outlet, suggested that the accident happened whilst erecting a banner on the building from a Merlo 360 degree telehandler with work platform attachment.

Two men died in the incident Bart Vink,53, and Jos Relou, 61. A third person, Remco van Bogget, 24, was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. The three were working in the platform when it fell about 15 metres to the ground.

All three were employed by Wines Bouwgroep of Someren. The company expressed its condolences to the families of the victims. The incident is being investigated by The Inspectorate of Social Affairs and Employment together with the Safety Board.
