66 Palfinger cranes for Alstom

Palfinger Marine has won a contract to supply 66 Palfinger 5.6 tonne PSM 400 cranes for the Merkur offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

The order has been placed for the cranes by Alstom Wind France with delivery scheduled to be completed by September 2017. The electro-hydraulic cranes, have 16 metre booms, 360 degree continuous slew, are DNV GL approved and equipped with radio remote controls.

Palfinger will supply 66 units of its 5.6 tonne PSM 400 stiff boom cranes to the Merkur offshore wind farm


Merkur offshore is installing the 66 Haliade 150-6MW wind turbines - supplied by GE Renewable Energy (Alstom) -around 45 kilometres off the island of Borkum in Northern Germany. The turbines will be installed by Belgian dredging and wind installation company DEME group with a completion date of 2019.

Palfinger Marine’s senior sales manager Rupert Reischl said: “All the energy and effort we have invested for more than 13 years into this very interesting and challenging offshore wind business has again led to a large-scale order and increases our momentum even further. We are confident that other potential customers in the wind industry will also see the advantages of our products and of having Palfinger Marine as a strong partner.”
