Swedish access rental company Kranpunkten is moving into Northern Sweden with the opening of a new branch in Luleå, in the far north east of the country.
The new branch, the company’s ninth, will open in April, as “sustainability focused operation” to serve the growing number of new Green Economy projects in northern Sweden, which include significant investments in the construction and renovation of facilities for fossil free production. As the company puts it “Kranpunkten aims to contribute to the transition journey happening up north.”
Therefore, in April, Kranpunkten will open its ninth depot in the city extending its network from Malmö in the south all the way to the border with Finland, with three branches in Gothenburg and two in Stockholm. Its network currently only reaches as far north as Uppsala – just north of Stockholm in central Sweden.
Northern regional manager Thomas Eriksson said: "We have been following the development in the northern market for many years and seen that there is room for a niche player like us. With the market's focus on sustainable development, we are well-positioned for expansion northwards."
Based in Båstad, Southern Sweden Kranpunkten Sweden was established in 1989 in Förslöv between Gothenburg and Malmo. It now runs a fleet of more than 4,500 units, mostly aerial work platforms, including booms, scissor lifts, trailer lifts, truck mounts and mastclimbers, along with telehandlers and wheeled loaders, from nine locations with around 110 employees. Today 85 percent of the units in its fleet are already either electric or hybrid powered. The fleet at the new Luleå branch will be closer to 100 percent.
