Snorkel plant shutdown
Tanfield, owner of UpRight and Snorkel, has announced that it will implement a one-week shut-down of its principal US production facility, the Snorkel plant in Elwood, Kansas. In order to preserve its US resources and to get in step with current market demand.
The shutdown will take occur in week commencing 27th October, and, according to the company “will bring production capacity in line with current market demand – whilst preserving the installed capability and skilled resource.”
The company’s customer care team and sales force will be fully operational throughout the period in order to avoid any inconvenience to customers.
A company spokesman said: “The aerial work platform industry continues to face some significant challenges, including the chaotic financial markets, a significant downturn in the construction sector, combined with uncertainty caused by the US election process. These factors are impacting at a time that coincides with the quietest season in the US AWP calendar.”
“We are therefore taking appropriate action now, to proactively safeguard our business in the face of these adverse conditions – whilst ensuring we maintain the capacity, capability and skills to deliver the future success of Snorkel International in the years to come”.
“This temporary shut-down only affects production and will not have an impact on Snorkel customers – it will be business as usual for our Customer Care Team and Sales Force during this period.”
