JCB to cut production by 19%
JCB says that it is planning to cut UK production by 19 percent to adjust to current market levels, this could include over 800 lay-offs.
JCB the excavator and telescopic handler manufacturer has said that it is planning to cut UK production by 19 percent, in order to adjust to current market demand levels.
It has already reduced its workforce by 379, including 184 voluntary redundancies..
The company will ballot its employees this week on two alternative retrenchment plans, one will include cutting a further 500 of its 5,500 workforce, while the other will be to agree a shorter working week in exchange for a reduction in the number of job cuts by up to two thirds.
