Alimak Hek supplies Crossrail hoists
Leading mastclimber and hoist supplier Alimak Hek has supplied two Scando 650 27/39FC hoists for the access shafts on the Crossrail C305 Dragados-Sisk Joint Venture project in London.
Elizabeth and sister tunnelling machine Victoria were lowered 40 metres underground into a shaft at Limmo Peninsula - next to Canning Town station - during November 2012 and have now started their 8.3km eastern tunnel drive.

Alimak Hek has supplied two Scando 650 27/39FC hoists for access shafts on the Crossrail C305 Dragados-Sisk joint venture project in London.
Once the tunnelling machines were positioned the first hoist was installed to assist with the safe and easy access for workers and materials into the shaft. Alimak’s engineering team worked closely with the DSJV team to determine the best position within the shaft because of the confined space due to the installed tunnel machinery.
The second Scando hoist is to be used in the 30 metre deep Stepney Green service shaft later this month. A third hoist - a standard speed Scando 20/32 - has already been installed in the auxiliary Limmo shaft as a short term temporary access measure.
